Woman stabbed several times during argument over money

KALAMAZOO TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) – The Kalamazoo Township Police Department is looking for the suspect who stabbed a woman multiple times inside an apartment complex.

The stabbing happened shortly before 7 p.m. Sunday at LakeView Apartments located in the 2000 block of Elkerton Avenue.

A neighbor called police as the 37-year-old victim was crawling out of an apartment with multiple stab wounds.

“As I was walking up the stairs I heard a woman yelling help, help and then she was saying I’ll give you the money. And then as I went up there she was basically crawling out the door and she was all bloody,” said Rocelious Johnson, a witness.

The victim told police she was in her apartment with an acquaintance when they started arguing because she would not give the suspect any money. The suspect then stabbed the victim several times over her body and took some cash and the victim’s cellphone, according to a KTPD news release.

Police say the victim was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The victim was able to identify her attacker. Authorities are still searching for the male suspect and the Kalamazoo County Prosecutor’s Office is seeking charges for attempted murder.

Police have not released a description of the suspect.
