CASCO TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — Police are awaiting autopsy results after a man walking his dog discovered a body on the Lake Michigan shoreline.
The Allegan County Sheriff’s Office received the call that a body had washed ashore north of South Haven just before noon on Saturday.
The body was badly decomposed and may have been in the water for a considerable amount of time, according to a release from police.
An autopsy is scheduled to take place on Monday.
Authorities say information is very limited due to the extent of decomposition. DNA or dental information will most likely be required before any identification can be made.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Allegan County Sheriff’s Office Investigation Division at 269.673.0500.
