GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) – It was a busy day for dozens of volunteers with Mel Trotter Ministries in downtown Grand Rapids.
More than 2,000 people showed up at DeVos Place for a feast with all the trimmings for the 18th Great Thanksgiving Banquet.
To help make the event happen, more than 700 volunteers served hot meals to families, local residents, and the homeless.
“It’s months of preparations, that as well as 1,500 pounds of turkey, 1,200 pounds of stuffing, hundreds of pounds of vegetables and rolls, pies,” said Cindy Smies, director of marketing and communications for Mel Trotter Ministries. “But all that preparation is all worth it for today.”
