REYNOLDS TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) – Sheriff’s officials have identified the Kent County who woman was killed in a two-vehicle crash on the day before Thanksgiving in Montcalm County.
Carol Sloma, 68, of Jenison, was killed in the crash which happened just before 6 p.m. at the intersection of W. Almy Road and Federal Road in Reynolds Township, which is just north of Howard City, according to sheriff’s officials.
Sloma was driving west on W. Almy Road when she failed to stop at a stop sign at the intersection of Federal Road, a release said. Her vehicle was hit by a pickup truck driven by 17-year-old boy Brandon Beemer of Howard City who was headed north on Federal Road.
When emergency responders arrived at the scene, they found Sloma unconscious. She was taken to a local hospital where she was pronounced deceased.
Sloma’s 17-year-old granddaughter, who was riding in the car with Sloma, was taken to the hospital with unknown injuries, officials said. Beemer suffered minor injuries in the crash.
The accident is still under investigation. Alcohol is not believed to be a factor, and all three people were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash.
