BATTLE CREEK, Mich. (WOOD) — A woman told officers she woke up to find a baby in her bed in her Battle Creek home Sunday morning.
According to a news release, the woman had no idea whose child it was and was not able to contact her 18-year-old son to see if he knew the one-year-old boy. However, the 18-year-old does not have any children.
Officers brought the child to the Battle Creek Police Department to await the arrival of Child Protective Services.
Officers said the child became an “instant hit at the police department with the night shift officers and ended up being showered with matchbox cars, teddy bears and beanie babies. Officers brushed up on their tactical diaper changing and peekaboo techniques,” a release said.
The child was identified later that morning and will be returned to his mother.
Officers said the 18-year-old son dropped the child off at the house before going out, but didn’t let his mother know.
