SHERWOOD TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — A man was hospitalized after falling approximately 25 feet from a tree stand while hunting.

Authorities received a call around 5 p.m. Sunday about a person yelling for help at Athens Road, south of Blossom Road near the St. Joseph River.

When deputies arrived, they were able to follow the sounds of the man’s voice.

The 63-year-old Sherwood man was discovered about a quarter mile off the road in a dense wooded area.

The man was not able to walk on his own and with help from neighbors who owned quad runners, authorities were able to transport the man to a waiting ambulance.
