CASCADE TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — Two people were hospitalized Monday evening after a car crash that caused a vehicle to hit an Arby’s restaurant southeast of Grand Rapids.
The collision happened just before 7 p.m. near the Arby’s off 28th Street east of Patterson Avenue SE in Cascade Township.
Kent County sheriff’s deputies say the 26-year-old driver of a Buick was trying to cross 28th Street headed south when the Buick was struck by a westbound Monte Carlo.
The Buick appears to have then accelerated. The Buick cross the eastbound lanes and the grass in front of the Arby’s. The Buick then struck a parked car and a column near the front door of the restaurant, where it came to a stop.
The 26-year-old and the 36-yearold woman driving the Monte Carlo were both hospitalized. The severity of their injuries was unknown Monday evening.
The crash remains under investigation, but deputies preliminary findings show the driver of the Buick failed to yield.
