Man assaulted in GR; suspects on run

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — Grand Rapids police are searching for two suspects who attempted to rob a man after assaulting him.

The victim told police he was approached by a man asking for help with his car around 1 a.m. Monday in the 1500 block of Edward Avenue SE.

He agreed to help but told police while he was looking at the car, two other suspects approached him, hit him in the head with an object possibly a hammer, and took off.

The victim believed he was set up by the man who asked him for help.

He was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Police said the two suspects were wearing dark clothing when they fled the scene.
