GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) Many people are planning to hit the road for holiday destinations with the whole family. For a lot of families, that includes bringing the four-legged kids. Kathryn Snyder from The Well Mannered Dog Center has some tips to make traveling with pets a smooth experience.

Tips for Traveling with Pets

  • Plan lodging in advance
  • Bring bones to keep them busy
  • Bring bottled water
  • Create a “Help Me Home” poster
  • Bring copies of pet health records

How to Tell When Your Dog is Getting Too Stressed

  • Panting, drooling and whining
  • Yawning
  • Nose licking
  • Wide eyes and ears pinned back
  • Skittering or snapping
  • Rushing or pacing
  • ”Velcro Dog” – dog will not leave your side

The Well Mannered Dog offers everything for pets including supplies, daycare, boarding, and classes. The location also holds competitions in their arena inside the 26,000 square foot building. The structure was badly damaged in a tornado in July 2014. They are in the process of rebuilding and plan to be back up and running by Spring Break 2015.
