TWIN LAKE, Mich. (WOOD) — One person was killed and another injured after a two-car crash on an icy road in Twin Lake.

It happened Saturday afternoon on Holton Road near 5th Street. Police on scene said two vehicles were involved: one headed north on Holton Road and the other headed south.

One of the drivers lost control due to icy road conditions, police said. The vehicles collided and both caught fire.

One person was killed in the wreck and resulting car fire, police said.

The other driver was taken the hospital. That person was in stable condition Saturday night.

Officers said that a Muskegon County sheriff’s deputy who was responding to another crash nearby heard the crash happen and saw the cars go up in flames, but couldn’t get the victim who was killed out of the car in time.

Holton Road was shut down for a time while emergency responders were on the scene, but has since reopened.

Authorities are cautioning that roads in the area are icy and dangerous.
