GRPD cruiser hit, multiple crashes due to icy conditions

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — Grand Rapids police shut down a portion of Leonard Street Saturday night due to icy road conditions and multiple crashes.

Around 10:15 p.m. Saturday, police closed Leonard between Plymouth and Perkins avenues after an out-of-control Rapid bus slid off the road.

An officer responding to the bus crash was then rear-ended. That officer sustained minor injuries.

Authorities warned drivers to use extreme caution due to the icy road conditions.
