Man robs gas station with handgun

GAINES TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — The Kent County Sheriff’s Department is looking for a man who allegedly robbed a gas station with a gun Saturday morning.

The incident happened just before 3:50 a.m. at the BP gas station in the 6000 block of Kalamazoo Avenue SE in Gaines Township.

According to a news release, the suspect entered the store with a handgun, demanded money from the clerk in the store and fled the scene.

Deputies arrived at the gas station and tried to track the suspect with a K9 unit, but weren’t able to find him.

The suspect is described as a black man in his early to mid 20’s. He is around 5’8″ to 6′ tall weighing 160-170 pounds. He was last seen wearing gray sweatpants, a black-hooded sweatshirt, white shoes and a black mask.
