Bicyclist airlifted to hospital after crash

GREENVILLE, Mich. (WOOD) – A bicyclist was airlifted to the hospital Friday night after being hit by an SUV on Montcalm Avenue just north of M-57 .

The accident happened at 6:08 pm, according to a press release by the Michigan State Police.

A 2008 Buick driven by 32-year old Charles Bliss struck the bicyclist who was transported to United Memorial Hospital in Greenville to be treated for his injuries.

The cyclist has been identified as 37-year old Jackie Remmele of Greenville. Remmele was later transported by Aero Med to Spectrum Health in Grand Rapids, where he is listed in critical condition.

State troopers report the driver and passenger in the Buick were not injured. Alcohol and speed do not appear to be factors in the incident.

State Police are asking anyone who may have witnessed the crash to contact the MSP at 855-677-9178.
