The damage at Ideal Park in Wyoming. (July 8, 2014)

WYOMING, Mich. (WOOD) — The City of Wyoming is looking for input from citizens on its plan to redevelop Ideal Park, which was damaged in a tornado in July 2014.

The July 6, 2014 EF-1 tornado damaged the playground and tore down nearly all the trees in the park, which is located off Crippen Avenue south of 54th Street.

A plan to redevelop the park includes ideas already offered by residents, school and business leaders, members of the state Department of Environmental Quality, the Kent County Drain Commission, and the city parks, planning and engineering departments.

The city now wants public feedback on the plan before it is finalized. It has put together an online survey so residents can check out the plan and weigh in.

The City Council will review the plan at its Feb. 9 work session. A vote for final approval is scheduled for Feb. 16.
