GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) If financial fitness is your goal for the new year, the Heart of West Michigan United Way is ready to help you take that first step. “Show Me the Money” is scheduled for Saturday, January 31 from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. The free event features seminars and a vendor fair.
The event is for all ages and age segments of the community. It is excellent for young adults and couples who are just starting out and need more information on budgeting or maybe they are looking to buy a house. For others, it may be a good way to get their finances back in shape.

Show Me the Money is the kick off of the tax season. If a household income is less than $55,000 a year, the resident can qualify for free tax preparation and e-file. People can either make an appointment to have their taxes prepared by an IRS trained and certified volunteer or they can prepare them online using My Free Taxes which is linked from the United Way website. The event will take place at Alger Middle School located at 921 Alger Street in Grand Rapids. Lunch will be provided. There will be door prizes including a free laptop computer donated by Sterling Massey from State Farm.
