LUDINGTON, Mich. (WOOD) When you think of Ludington and West Michigan’s lakeshore, you may think of summer sun and sandy beaches. But there is so much to do in Ludington, even when the snow falls.
Ludington State Park is open year-round for winter camping, cross country skiing, snow shoeing, and walking. It has miles of groomed trails and guided snow shoeing outings available with free snow shoe rental. There is a warming shelter on site where visitors can get out of the cold, pick up snow shoes, and even hold special events and gatherings.
Every other weekend in January and February, the trails at Ludington State Park are aglow with lanterns for the Lantern Lit Ski and Snowshoe Event. It includes a bonfire in the woods and hot cocoa and cider. The next event is Saturday, January 31 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. It is free and no reservation is needed.
