PORTLAND, Mich. (WOOD) — The former finance director for the City of Portland is accused of stealing from the local government.
Brenda Schrauben, 43, faces a charge of embezzlement by an agent or trustee of between $1,000 and $20,000.
In a written statement, Portland City Manger S. Tutt Gorman said the city found “payroll discrepancies related to sick time reporting” and hired an outside accountant to investigate.
Schrauben was fired on Jan. 23.
She is expected back in court on Feb. 10.
