1 killed, 1 injured in shooting near MSU

EAST LANSING, Mich. (WOOD) — A 22-year-old man has died and another man was injured following a shooting in East Lansing.

The shooting happened just before midnight Thursday in the Grove Street parking garage, which is across the street from the campus of Michigan State University and near the East Lansing Police Department.

When officers arrived they found two men suffering from gunshot wounds. They were both taken to the hospital where one of the victims later died.

According to WLNS, police have identified the victim as 22-year-old Michael Smith of DeWitt Township.

The second victim, a 21-year-old DeWitt Township resident, suffered non-life threatening injuries.

Police are looking for two suspects in connection with the shootings. The first suspect is described as a black male, 5’9″ tall, between 160 and 185 pounds. The second suspect is described as a black male, 5’11” tall, and approximately 200 pounds.

Police say the suspects were seen fleeing the area in a red, four-door sedan, possibly a Lincoln or Dodge.
