PLAINFIELD TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) – Crews have suspended the search for a kayaker who went missing on the Rogue River near Belmont Saturday afternoon.
Kent County Sheriff’s deputies will start searching again Sunday morning, according to Kent County dispatch.
Authorities enlisted the help of a helicopter, a dive team and a boat to search for the missing kayaker.
Crews have not seen any signs of the missing kayaker since getting on the river.
Deputies say there were two people out kayaking Saturday afternoon when a man’s kayak got sucked under the ice. The man fell out of the kayak and went under the ice. The other person kayaking with him was able to get out of the river to call 911.
