Hartford police investigating fatal hit-and-run

HARTFORD, Mich. (WOOD) – Hartford police are investigating after a man was killed in a hit-and-run accident early Saturday morning.

It happened around 2:35 a.m. Saturday on Linden Street near the intersection of Church Street in the City of Hartford, according to Hartford police.

A passing vehicle found the man lying near the street and called police. When police arrived at the scene, the 43-year-old Hartford resident was unresponsive and later pronounced dead, according to police.

Police say the man’s injuries were consistent of being hit by a vehicle.

Authorities found evidence at the scene but at this time they do not have a suspect or a suspect vehicle. Police say the vehicle fled eastbound on Linden Street.

Hartford police are investigating, along with the Van Buren County Sheriff’s Department’s Major Crimes Task Force.
