Go purple to help end Parkinson’s

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) If you are passionate about hockey, the color purple, and putting an end to Parkinson’s Disease, there are two great events coming up that you’re not going to want to miss.

Winterfest Celebration

Van Andel Institute’s 10th annual Winterfest Celebration takes place on Thursday, February 19. The event features more than 14 local restaurants showcasing unique menu items. Guests enjoy a strolling dinner, open bar, networking, and learn about Parkinson’s research at VAI.

Winterfest from 5:30 to 9 p.m. in the Ambassador Ballroom at the Amway Grand Plaza Hotel. Tickets are $125 and can be purchased online. Business attire requested.

Purple Community Game 

The Grand Rapids Griffins are hosting their fourth annual Purple Community Game on Friday, February 13. The players will wear purple jerseys to skate on purple ice. There will be purple concessions, purple-themed songs and crafts, purple Griffins merchandise, and more. All of the proceeds will go toward Parkinson’s Disease research at VAI.

The game starts at 7 p.m. Doors open at 6 p.m. Tickets are $10, available online.

About Purple Community

The Purple Community is the Van Andel Institute’s community fundraising program. It works with individuals, schools, businesses, and community groups to organize fundraising events for VAI. So far, the program has raised $1 million.
