Authorities: Man arrested after pointing gun at 2

PARK TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — Police say a man was arrested after pointing a rifle at his spouse and another person, telling them to leave his house, and then a standoff.

The incident happened around 3:50 p.m. Wednesday at a residence on Washington Street near 160th Street in Park Township, near Holland.

It started when the 48-year-old man sent text messages to his spouse, saying he was depressed and had a gun, according to the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Department.

The spouse and another person went to the home, where the man pointed a rifle at them and told them to leave. The two did as they were told and were not harmed.

Police soon arrived. An hour and a half later, the man came out of the home and was taken into custody.

The names of those involved have not been released.
