Man killed in 2-vehicle crash in Calhoun County

A man was killed in a two-vehicle crash when he lost control on an icy road in Tekonsha Township. (Feb. 12, 2015)

TEKONSHA TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) – A 46-year-old Tekonsha man was killed Thursday morning after the vehicle he was in lost control and was hit by another vehicle.

It happened around 5:00 a.m. on Old U.S. 27 near S. County Line Road in Tekonsha Township, according to a Calhoun County Sheriff’s Department news release.

When deputies arrived at the scene, the driver was pronounced dead.

After investigating, deputies found that the man was traveling southbound on Old U.S. 27 in a four-door Chevrolet when the car lost control and spun into the northbound lane, according to deputies. Then an oncoming Ford F-250 hit the Chevrolet.

The driver of the pickup truck received minor injuries.

Deputies believe icy road conditions were a factors in the crash.
