NORWAY, Mich. (AP) — State police say two troopers are recovering from injuries they sustained when a man opened fire on them as they tried to serve a warrant at a home in the Upper Peninsula.
Iron Mountain state police post commander 1st Lt. Christine Grabowski says the attack happened Wednesday afternoon at a residence in Norway. It’s about 7 miles east-southeast of Iron Mountain.
State police wouldn’t say Thursday whether the officers were hit by gunfire or were otherwise injured. They say one trooper was treated at a hospital and released, while the other sought treatment independently.
A statement from Grabowski says that 49-year-old Richard Goodreau of Norway was arraigned Thursday on attempted murder, police property destruction and firearms charges. It’s unknown if he has a lawyer.
