HUDSONVILLE, Mich. (WOOD) What started as an independent film project is now changing lives around the world. “The Fourth World” is a documentary about slums in Kenya, the Philippines, and Guatemala. It is called “fourth world” because these slums are one step below third world countries; the poorest of the poor.

Dale Vande Griend traveled the world on the crew for the documentary. He says the film does more than talk about statistics. It tells the stories of the people who live in the slums.

You can see “The Fourth World” at an event on Friday, February 27 at the Pinnacle Center in Hudsonville. Watch the film, stay for questions and answers, and a reception following. The event starts at 7 p.m. It is free! Register online by February 23.
