WALKER, Mich. (WOOD) – Police are investigating a meth lab explosion that caused a small fire at America’s Best Inn in Walker.

When police and firefighters arrived at the motel around 12:15 a.m. Tuesday, the fire that was contained in a bathroom had been put out by other guests at the motel on 777 3 Mile Road.

While checking the motel room, officers noticed that parts of a methamphetamine lab had exploded and caused the fire.

The nearby rooms were evacuated and the Kent Area Narcotic Enforcement Team and the MSP Meth Response Team were called to the scene to investigate and clean-up.

No one was hurt.

The incident remains under investigation including as to who was inside the room at the time of the explosion.
