Eat healthy for your heart

A heart-healthy salad

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) February is almost over, and that means American Heart Month is wrapping up. Each year, it is a month to focus on women’s heart health.

One thing to watch out for to keep your heart healthy is how much sodium you’re eating. A good rule of thumb is to watch out for “The Salty Six:”

  1. Bread
  2. Cold cuts and cured meats
  3. Pizza
  4. Soup
  5. Sandwiches

A great way to limit the amount of sodium in your diet is to get cooking! The American Heart Association has a great cookbook and recipes online. Laura from WOTV 4 Women demonstrates a few of those recipes in the eightWest studio.
