OTSEGO, Mich. (WOOD) — Authorities are investigating after a semi-truck hit and killed a pedestrian in Otsego Thursday afternoon.

Pamela Knowlton, 55, of Otsego was crossing M-89 at North Farmer Street around 3 p.m. when she was hit by a semi-truck and killed instantly, according to the Otsego Police Chief Gordon Konkle.

He said Knowlton had the right of way when she was walking in the crosswalk.

The semi-truck driver was turning left on a green light and did not see her crossing. The back wheels of the trailer hit the victim.

M-89 was closed for a few hours while crews investigated.

Authorities said there was no indication the truck driver was impaired in any way, but a blood test will be performed.

The driver of the semi-truck was released. It’s unclear if the driver will face any charges.

Anyone with information on this incident is asked to call the Otsego Police Department at 269.692.6111.
