Dance through the night to help kids

Dance marathon special

HOLLAND, Mich. (WOOD) Groups of college kids will be dancing all night long next weekend, but it’s not just for fun. The annual Hope Dance Marathon has taken place at Hope College every year since 2000. The event is a 24 hour fundraiser for Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital.

People can sign up to be dancers, who dance for the entire 24 hour event. Others can sign up to be moralers, who work eight hour shifts to help keep up peoples’ spirits. The event includes performers and music all night long, from 7 p.m. on Friday, March 6 to 7 p.m. on Saturday, March 7. Since it started in 2000, it has raised about $1.3 million.

People are welcome to come check out the marathon any time. You can also support it from home by donating online or by text.

  • Text “kids” to 41010 to donate $10
  • Text “cure” to 41010 to donate $5

Then tune in for the “Dance Marathon: Giving Hope to Kids” special at 7 p.m. Friday, March 6 on WOTV 4 Women.
