Police: Home invasion suspect sexually assaults girl, 14

KALAMAZOO, Mich. (WOOD) — Authorities in Kalamazoo are looking for a man who allegedly broke into a home and sexually assaulted a 14-year-old girl.

Public Safety officers said an unknown suspect broke into a home in the 1600 block of Reed Street around 3 a.m. Wednesday and showed a handgun to the 14-year-old resident.

The girl told police the suspect came inside and began grabbing items. He sexually assaulted the 14-year-old and then robbed a second resident who came home.

The suspect left walking westbound on Reed Street and fired two gunshots at the ground.

Police said there were no visible injuries to either victim, but the girl was taken to the YWCA for an examination.

The suspect is described as a black man in his 20’s, 5’8″ to 6’0″ tall, 200-230 lbs. He has corn rolls or braids in his hair and has two or three teardrop tattoos near his left eye. He was wearing a black baseball cap, blue hoodie under a black coat and blue jeans.
