Verizon cuts data plan prices, but there’s a catch

NEW YORK (MEDIA GENERAL) – Since so many Americans now rely on smartphones to connect to the internet, post selfies and watch video, the cost of data is becoming more and more important.

To that end, millions of Verizon Wireless customers will now get to pay less for data. But, you have to ask first.

Verizon is cutting the cost of many of its monthly shared data plans, according to Paul Ulreich, Verizon public relations representative.

Verizon announced it is reducing the price of most plans by $10. It’s cheapest plan will start at about $30 per month.

If you are currently a Verizon customer, you must contact Verizon to get the new prices.

Here’s a breakdown of the plans’ new prices and added data options.
•    500MB – Unchanged at $20
•    1GB – Now $30 – From $40
•    2GB – Now $40 – From $50
•    3GB – Now $50 – From $60
•    4GB – Now $60 – From $70
•    6GB – Now $70 – From $80
•    8GB – Now $85 – From $90
•    10GB – Unchanged at $100
•    12GB – Now $110 – New Option
•    14GB – Now $120 – New Option
•    16GB – Now $130 – New Option
•    20GB – Now $140 – From $150
