House that burned last year catches fire again

KALAMAZOO TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — A vacant home in Kalamazoo Township that burned last year caught fire again Thursday evening.

The fire broke out at the boarded up house in the 1900 block of Egleston Avenue near Byron Avenue.

When firefighters arrived at the fire, the structure was fully involved.

Authorities are treating the fire as suspicious because the home was vacant. A fire investigator was called to the scene.

The same house caught fire in 2014, after which it was abandoned. Township documents show that in July 2014, the township board ordered the home torn down within 60 days. It wasn’t immediately clear Thursday night why that didn’t happen.
