Learn to cook from the ‘Blind Chef’

"Blind Chef" Christine Ha

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) She conquered the kitchen on MasterChef U.S. without the ability to see. Now “Blind Chef” Christine Ha is in West Michigan for a unique event.

Christine lost her vision about ten years ago due to an autoimmune condition similar to Muscular Dystrophy. She always loved to cook and got back into the kitchen to re-learn how to cook without her sight. She went on to win MasterChef U.S. on Fox.

Ha is speaking at The Blind Dinner Date on March 5 at The Goei Center in Grand Rapids. The event benefits three organizations that help the vision impaired become independent: The Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired, Ken-O-Sha, and the Vision Clinic at Cherry Health. Tickets are $75 each. Call (616) 777-5292 or visit the Grand Rapids Lions Club website for information.

Check out Ha’s cookbook, “Recipes from My Home Kitchen” on her website.
