GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) A man who now calls West Michigan home is taking his journey of military service, marriage, divorce, and fatherhood and turning it into beautiful music.

Matt Williams’ story has gone viral on social media. Williams is an eight-year veteran who was wounded in Afghanistan. He started writing music as a form of therapy and his original song, “You’ll Make Her Cry” has 12 million views. The song “I’ll Kiss You” got 50,000 views in one week.

Williams is now re-releasing a produced version of “You’ll Make Her Cry.” He is starting a Kickstarter campaign to help produce an album. It goes active on Friday, March 6.
