BATTLE CREEK (WOOD) — A Battle Creek man was sentenced between five and 20 years in prison on Monday for embezzling money from his former employer.
John Page was an insurance agent for the Worgess Insurance Agency in Battle Creek. He embezzled at least $1 million from the agency between December 2008 and May 2014.
He allegedly took out fake loans on behalf of clients and then had the insurance company make the loan payments. Page admitted to forging signatures to insurance documents and misappropriating money in a “fraudulent, dishonest, and financially irresponsible manner.”
Page’s license to sell insurance was revoked by the state in July 2014.
