GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — Grand Rapids police say they found the body of a missing woman in the Grand River on Thursday morning.

Kimberly Haymon, 55, went missing in January. Authorities searched along the Grand River for her at the time and found nothing.

Thursday, they tried again. They didn’t have any new information, according to a release from the Grand Rapids Police Department, but wanted to check again because the weather had improved and more of the river became visible. The East Grand Rapids Department of Public Safety aided in the search.

Around 11 a.m., police say, Haymon’s body was found in the river close to the west bank near Front Avenue SW north of Wealthy Street. Her family has been notified.

Haymon was last seen alive getting off a bus near the intersection of Fulton Street and Division Avenue. Her purse was found near the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Library and Museum, as were footprints leading to the river bank.

The medical examiner will determine her cause of death.
