Video shows armed robbery at Dowagiac credit union

DOWAGIAC, Mich. (WOOD) — Police have released surveillance video showing an armed robbery at a Dowagiac credit union as the search for the suspect continues.

It happened around 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Dowagiac Area Federal Credit Union located at 473 E Division Street, according to a Dowagiac Department of Public Safety news release.

The suspect is a man who was last seen wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, dark pants, black shoes, glasses and a black cap with a flat yellow rim, the release said.

Police say a possible suspect vehicle was seen nearby driving erratically. The vehicle is described as a navy blue four-door sedan with tinted windows.

The suspect showed a dark handgun during the robbery and got away with an undetermined amount of cash, the release said.

There were no reported injuries.

As a precaution, nearby schools and day care centers were placed on lockdown for a few hours.
