GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — The 15-year-old who allegedly stabbed his 13-year-old sister repeatedly is expected to face an attempted murder charge.
A petition was filed with the Kent County Juvenile Court on Thursday to charge the teen with assault with intent to commit murder. 24 Hour News 8 is not identifying him by name because it’s not yet clear whether he will be charged as an adult or a juvenile.
Police say the 15-year-old called 911 on Saturday after stabbing his younger sister multiple times at their Caledonia Township home while their father was at work. Prosecutors say he was trying to kill her.
The girl, a Duncan Lake Middle School student, remained in the hospital Thursday. Her condition was unknown, but family members have posted on Facebook that she is expected to survive.
The 15-year-old, a Caledonia High School student, is expected to be in court Friday afternoon.
