GROW selected as Gazelle Girl partner

Gazelle Girl start/finish line

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) Hundreds of women will pave the way for new opportunities by hitting the pavement running for the annual Gazelle Girl Half Marathon and 5K.

The Gazelle Girl is the first women’s only half marathon event in the state. Thousands of women participate each year, helping raise money for female-focused charities in the West Michigan community. One hundred percent of the proceeds will go to Kent County Girls on the Run, Grand Rapids Opportunities for Women (GROW), the YWCA, and Women at Risk.

GROW is an organization that helps women and men start new businesses, as well as provide resources to more seasoned businesses for growth and success.

As of 2010, women own 40% of all small businesses. By 2018, women will own more than 60% of the small businesses in this country. GROW is the leading women’s business center in West Michigan. It works by promoting locally-owned businesses, providing training and education, offering networking opportunities, encouraging fiscal responsibility, and supporting women-owned businesses.
