This vote is the final approval that is needed to put the sign back up.

The proposal moves the sign with the Bible verse on it to a different part of Hager Park. The sign would go up on one side of a boulder, and another sign would be on the other side.

The other sign would explain the history of the park, the Bible verse sign and the controversy that led to its removal and return.

The memorial will go up sometime this spring.

The sign was originally installed at Hager Park in 1967. It displays the words of Pslam 19:1 — “The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handiwork.” It was taken down in December 2014 after the Michigan Association of Civil Rights Activists threatened legal action. The County Commission voted to reinstall it in January.
