17-year-old shot in leg, found hiding in bushes

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — Police discovered a 17-year-old hiding in the bushes after he was shot early Wednesday morning.

Grand Rapids police responded to the sound of multiple gunshots in the area of Hamilton Avenue NW and Crosby Street around 1 a.m.

When police arrived they found a pistol and bicycle laying on the ground in the 500 block of Crosby Street NW.

At first they didn’t find a victim or suspect, but after 15 minutes they found a victim hiding in some bushes near a home suffering from a gunshot wound to the lower leg.

He was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Police are still trying to figure out what led up to the shooting and suspect information. Anyone with information is asked to call the Grand Rapids Police Department at 616.456.3400 or Silent Observer at 616.774.2345.
