Ex-Ambulance Authority director pleads not guilty

WHITEHALL, Mich. (WOOD) — The former longtime director of the White Lake Ambulance Authority pleaded not guilty Wednesday to two charges, including not paying employee’s wages.

Jean Dresen pleaded guiltyin Muskegon County District Court to charges of employer failure to contribute to agreed benefit, and failure to pay wages and benefits.

Dresen will be back in court for a pre-trial conference set for April 27.

Vice president of the ambulance board Sam St. Amour said last year Dresen stopped paying health insurance premiums, leaving eight full-time employees without coverage; and barely made payroll.

The Authority ordered a forensic audit which found Dresen didn’t commit any criminal wrongdoing, but that she mismanaged the Authority toward the end of her time there.
