DECATUR TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — An Indiana man face multiple charges out of Van Buren County for allegedly driving drunk with his two young children in the backseat.
Mitchell Majewski was pulled over after deputies noticed his vehicle repeatedly drifting around 7:30 p.m. Friday on M-51 near 45th Street in Decatur Township, according to the Van Buren County Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities say Majewski, of Mishawaka, Ind., was drunk and had an open beer in the vehicle. Additionally, his 9-year-old daughter and 5-year-old son were in the car.
When deputies checked Majewski out, they found his license was suspended in both Michigan and Indiana.
Majewski, 34, was arrested for operating while intoxicated, two counts of child endangerment linked to the OWI charge, driving on a suspended license, possession of open intoxicants in a vehicle and an outstanding misdemeanor traffic warrant out of Niles. He was taken to the Van Buren County Jail.
The children, who were not hurt, were turned over to other family members. The sheriff’s department says the investigation will be turned over to Children’s Protective Services.
