OAKFIELD TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — A fire rekindled Monday morning at the same address where a home was destroyed the day before.
The fire initially broke out on Sunday at a home located in the 8400 block of Wabasis Avenue NE, north of 10 Mile Road in Oakfield Township.
The home burned to the ground, and family vehicles were also destroyed.

The fire also spread to a nearby wooded area, so grass rigs from other departments were called in to help with that fire.
The fire departments from Oakfield Township, Cannon Township, Spencer Township and Grattan Township all responded to the scene.
Initial calls indicated someone may have been trapped in the house, but it was later determined that all of the residents escaped safely.
Firefighters returned to the scene to put out hotspots around 6:30 a.m. Monday after the fire rekindled.
The Red Cross is helping the displaced family with clothing and housing needs, according to Kent County Dispatch.
