GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — The Kent County Intermediate School District has chosen a new superintendent: Current Grandville Public Schools Superintendent Ron Caniff.

Caniff has been the superintendent in Grandville since 2003, according to a Tuesday release from the Kent ISD. He was the superintendent in Lapeer for three years before that. He also previously served as a principal at Forest Hills Public Schools and an assistant superintendent in Northview.

He was the only final candidate left after West Ottawa Public Schools Superintendent Tom Martin removed himself from consideration on Monday, the ISD said. Final interviews were scheduled for Tuesday.

Caniff will replace Keith Konarska, who will retire effective June 30 after nine years at the ISD.
