2 arrested after morning party turns violent

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — Two people were arrested after a party got out of control Wednesday morning.

Grand Rapids police said an intoxicated husband and wife started fighting at a home in the 1600 block of Jefferson Street SE around 7 a.m.

The fight escalated and the woman allegedly hit her husband over the head with a vase.

An upstairs neighbor attempted to break up the fight, but it only made the situation worse.

The husband then fired a shotgun into the upstairs apartment, according to police.

The husband was the only one who was injured in the fight and suffered a cut to his head.

Police arrested the husband who is expected to be charged with Assault with Intent to Murder. The wife is also facing an assault charge.
