No major issues at MSU following loss

Police make an arrest outside the Cedar Village apartment complex. (April 4, 2015)

EAST LANSING, Mich. (WOOD) — After Michigan State University’s 81-61 loss to Duke in Saturday night’s NCAA Tournament Final Four game, hundreds of students gathered in an apartment complex that has become known for issues in the past.

After MSU’s win over Louisville on the previous Sunday, students at Cedar Village Apartments threw bagels at police.

But Saturday night after the Final Four game, the crowd of several hundred people stood on the sidewalk, not in the streets, and chanted, “Go Green, Go White” and were mostly peaceful.

A few lemons and oranges and one beer can were thrown. At least four people were arrested.

Police were well prepared to handle a much larger crowd. Dozens of police were in the apartment complex heavily armed. Several police on horses were also in the complex.

By 10 p.m. the gathering had completely dispersed.
