Fifth Third to kick off Whitecaps, River Bank Run

West Michigan Whitecaps and Fifth Third River Bank Run

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) The Grand Rapids community has rallied for years around two big events: West Michigan Whitecaps opening day and the Fifth Third River Bank Run. The folks at Fifth Third Bank are busy making sure both events are a big success.

West Michigan Whitecaps

Opening day at Fifth Third Ballpark is Thursday, April 9. This is Fifth Third Bank’s 21st year of supporting the West Michigan Whitecaps. The 2015 season will kick off with free mittens for the first 1,000 people through the gates. The game starts at 6:35 p.m., but gates open at 5 p.m. to allow visitors plenty of time to walk the concourse and see new food options, a beer garden, and the new souvenir shop.

Maranda Where You Live will be live from opening night on Thursday starting at 7 p.m. on WOTV 4 Women.

Fifth Third River Bank Run

Tens of thousands of people flood into downtown Grand Rapids for the Fifth Third River Bank Run. This year’s race is on Saturday, May 9. Fifth Third Bank hopes to set a new record of 24,000 race participants. There is still plenty of time to sign up and get ready. If running is not for you, there is a community walk and a dog walk as part of the race. Or you can sign up to volunteer on race day or at other Fifth Third River Bank Run events:
