KALAMAZOO, Mich. (WOOD) — Officials are warning Kalamazoo County residents to be aware of a fraudulent letter and questionnaire that was sent to homes.

The letter and questionnaire falsely states that the recipient has been randomly selected to participate in a water quality study being conducted by the city, according to a press release from the city of Kalamazoo.

Officials said residents can spot the fake letter which has the unauthorized use of the city of Kalamazoo logo in the upper left side of the letter, a text box in the upper right corner and signed by Donna Princinsky, who is not a city of Kalamazoo employee.

Kalamazoo officials say to throw away the letter and don’t respond to it. They say water system customers would never be notified in that way nor would the city conduct any type of sampling program in this manner.

Information concerning Kalamazoo Water System Quality is presented in their Water Quality Report distributed and made available to water system customers each year.
