WALKER, Mich. (WOOD) — Defense contractor Plasan is relocating its headquarters to Walker.
The Right Place, Inc. — West Michigan’s economic development agency — says the armor-making company will hire 120 people over the next couple of years.
Plasan has had a manufacturing facility on Wilson Drive since 2012, but this move will add corporate and research offices under the same roof.
Plasan and The Right Place worked with the Michigan Economic Development Corporation to get worker training through Michigan Works!, a performance-based grant from the Michigan Business Development Program and local tax abatements from Walker.
The move could add $12.3 million to the local economy.
Michigan was chosen over competing sites in Vermont, Texas, Georgia and Tennessee.
